This free baby shower emoji game turns 12 pairs of pictures into everyday baby-related words and short phrases. Our round is called Everyday Baby Words. Give each person or pair a player sheet, agree on the time, then check the separate host answer key together. Seven minutes is a suggested starting allowance for the puzzle, with a maximum score of twelve.
The drawings are original black-and-white pictorial clues rather than phone emoji characters. Everyone receives the same visible shapes. A second player page describes those pictures in words, so guests can choose the format they prefer. You do not need private facts about the parents, nursery rhyme knowledge or a collection of baby products to run the game.

Choose the paper size already in your printer. The player files contain no answers. The host files contain the rules and answer key. Each file has two pages, and both paper sizes contain exactly the same game.
- A4 player sheets, 2 pages.
- A4 host rules and answers, 2 pages.
- US Letter player sheets, 2 pages.
- US Letter host rules and answers, 2 pages.
The PDFs are free for personal celebrations, with no account or email sign-up. They are paper worksheets for handwriting, not fillable forms. Every player uses the same twelve clues; there is no need to assign different numbered boards.
| File and page | What it contains | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Player page 1 | 12 numbered picture pairs and blank answer lines | Players who choose the picture version |
| Player page 2 | The same 12 clues described in words, with answer lines | Players who choose the text version, or anyone who wants both |
| Host page 1 | Setup, timing, copying quantities and scoring rules | The non-playing host |
| Host page 2 | All 12 answers and accepted alternatives | The non-playing host, until the answer reveal |
The two player pages are alternatives for one round. Do not add the scores from both pages: they ask the same questions. If you want a different activity afterward, the baby shower bingo printable has its own cards and calling system.
How to play the picture-phrase round
Seat guests where they can write comfortably. Give each person or pair one chosen sheet and a pen or pencil. Keep one host out of the competition so that person can read the answer key and help with the instructions.
- Explain the pictures. Read each pair from left to right. The plus sign means combine the ideas into one baby-related word or short phrase. Some pictures name an object; others suggest a word such as a direction or action.
- Set the rules before the timer. Guests may play individually or in pairs. No phones, reference lists or peeking at the answer key. Choose the time together before starting; seven minutes is the proposed default.
- Start and stop together. Players write one answer per numbered line. They may skip a clue and return to it. Finishing early earns no extra points.
- Reveal the key after play. Read the answers in number order. Score one point for a correct answer or an accepted equivalent, up to twelve.
- Share any tied win. The highest score wins, and equal highest scores share the result. Prizes are optional, so there is no need to invent an unrelated tie-break question.
If someone writes several guesses on one line, score only the first. Recognizable spelling and sensible singular or plural forms are fine. An equivalent local term earns the point; apply the same interpretation to everyone. A blank or a different object does not score.
Allow roughly 12 to 15 minutes for the whole activity, including explanation and checking. That is a planning allowance, not a measured event duration. Leave space around it in a Baby in Bloom brunch plan, and let anyone who prefers to watch do so.
Print one check sheet before making copies
Open the PDF for the paper size you will use. Select Actual Size or 100%, single-sided printing, and the specific player page you need. Regular copy paper is sufficient for a handwriting worksheet. If the printer clips the outside margin, use Fit and check again before printing the remaining copies. Adobe’s page-size guide explains the difference between printing without scaling and fitting the printable area.
Look for twelve visible numbers, twelve unbroken answer lines, a clear plus sign in every picture pair and readable small details. The carton in clue eight should say MILK. The drawings use dark outlines and do not rely on color to distinguish clues.
| How the group plays | Player sheets | Host sheets | Total sheets |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 individual players, one preferred version each | 12 | 2 | 14 |
| 12 guests in 6 pairs, one preferred version per pair | 6 | 2 | 8 |
| 12 individual players, both versions for everyone | 24 | 2 | 26 |
You can mix picture and text sheets within the same group. For example, eight picture sheets and four text sheets still make twelve player sheets. Add a spare only if you want one; the counts above do not include extras.
The files have been checked digitally for page layout, fonts and answer separation. We have not performed a physical printer test or timed a group playing this round.

Read the twelve clues in words
These are descriptions of the pictures, with the numbers kept in the same order as the PDF. They name the visible parts without supplying the combined answer. Guests can use this table with their own numbered paper, or print player page 2.
| Clue | What the pictures show |
|---|---|
| 1 | A feeding bottle, followed by a long-handled bristled brush. |
| 2 | A crescent moon and stars, followed by a glowing light bulb. |
| 3 | An open disposable diaper with two tabs, followed by a handled bag. |
| 4 | An infant's face, followed by a folded cloth with stitched edges. |
| 5 | A bathtub with water, followed by a small toy duck. |
| 6 | An arrow pointing upward, followed by an ordinary chair. |
| 7 | An infant's face, followed by a small screen with sound waves. |
| 8 | A carton marked MILK, followed by two teeth. |
| 9 | A wheeled stroller with a curved canopy, followed by a small fan. |
| 10 | An infant's face, followed by a pair of small shoes. |
| 11 | Two curved arrows going around a circle, followed by a table. |
| 12 | Three toy blocks, followed by a flat rectangular padded mat. |
For a read-aloud version, read those descriptions once to everyone before starting the agreed timer. Repeat a requested description exactly instead of adding a private hint. The text sheet can stay available throughout play. An untimed cooperative round is also an option: work through the pairs together and skip the scoring.
Keep the answer key with the host
Put the printed host pack in a closed folder, away from the player sheets. Check the page labels before handing anything out. Printing the host key on the reverse of a player page would reveal the game, so keep the two files separate and print single-sided.
If you share your screen for a remote shower, show only the player PDF window. Send players the player file beforehand, and keep the host PDF and this page’s answer section in a different window. Guests can write on their own paper and report scores after the reveal. Check that everyone can read the clues before starting; offer the text version when the pictures are too small.

Show the twelve answers and accepted alternatives
| Clue | Answer | Also accept | How the pictures connect |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bottle brush | Baby bottle brush; bottle-cleaning brush | The first object names what the second object cleans. |
| 2 | Night light | Nightlight | The moon suggests night; the bulb supplies light. |
| 3 | Diaper bag | Nappy bag; changing bag | Combine the diaper with the bag that can carry it. |
| 4 | Baby blanket | Receiving blanket; infant blanket | The infant supplies baby; the folded cloth represents a blanket. |
| 5 | Bath toy | Bath toys; bath duck; rubber duck; rubber ducky | The duck is a toy connected with the bath. Its specific name also fits. |
| 6 | High chair | Highchair | Read the upward arrow as high and add chair. |
| 7 | Baby monitor | Infant monitor; video baby monitor | The small screen stands for a monitor, paired with baby. |
| 8 | Milk teeth | Milk tooth; baby teeth; baby tooth; primary teeth; primary tooth | The literal picture phrase is milk teeth; baby teeth is also accepted. |
| 9 | Stroller fan | Pram fan; pushchair fan; buggy fan | Name the two objects in the order shown. |
| 10 | Baby shoes | Baby shoe; baby booties; booties; infant shoes | The shoes are paired with the infant rather than an adult. |
| 11 | Changing table | Change table; diaper-changing table; diaper changing table; nappy-changing table | Read the circular arrows as change or changing, then add table. |
| 12 | Play mat | Playmat; baby play mat; activity mat; play rug | The toy blocks suggest play; the flat pad supplies mat. |
Treat the answer alternatives as part of the key from the start. A player who uses a familiar regional term should not lose a point because the host had a different word in mind. For clue eight, milk teeth, baby teeth and primary teeth name the same first set, as explained on the Milk Teeth page in Whittington Health’s oral-health activity pack. The pictured objects are vocabulary clues, not a shopping list or advice about which baby equipment to use.
Is this the nursery rhyme emoji game?
Everyday Baby Words uses everyday objects and short baby-related phrases. The wider game name covers several formats: Play Party Plan’s nursery rhyme version asks players to identify rhymes, while Cute Party Prints describes a baby-and-pregnancy phrase version. Their boards have their own answer keys.
Choose this round when you want a short English picture-word activity with a printable text option. If your guests prefer conversation, drawing or a game without written answers, use the baby shower games guide to choose a different activity before printing.
Choose the picture or text sheet, give everyone the same agreed time, and use the separate answer key to score twelve baby-related picture phrases fairly.
